Muhammad Musa Bello is the former Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
He was appointed in May 2015 by President Buhari and has remained a serving minister since then till date. He is deputized by Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who is the Honourable FCT Minister (State).

Muhammad Musa Bello’s Early Life
Born on January 8, 1959, Muhammad Musa Bello (CON) is a Nigerian banker and an indigene of Yola, Adamawa State. He hails from the Fulani ethnic group in the northeastern part of Nigeria.
His father, Alhaji Musa Bello, was the Managing Director of Northern Nigeria Development Company (from 1970 to 1976) and was a trusted friend of President Buhari.
Education Background
As a young child born 21 months after Nigeria gained independence, Bello began his elementary education in Yola and also attended Our Lady’s High School, Kaduna in 1971.
He later proceeded to attend Barewa College in Zaria from 1971 to 1976, where he bagged a Higher School Certificate.
From 1977 to 1980, Bello attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Management (Banking and Finance major). He also bagged an MBA in the same field.
Work & Career Progression
Bello’s career journey saw him work in the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy.
In 1984, he was hired by Icon Limited (a subsidiary of Barings Bank and Morgan Guaranty Trust). He went through a six-month training in commercial banking and risk management at J.P. Morgan. Later, he rose to become the Head of Credit and Marketing at the ICON Merchant Bank Plc.
Bello spent over 20 years in the corporate sector, working as a Director at Habib Bank Plc and several top-ranking firms.
In 1992, Muhammad Musa Bello worked as a Managing Director of the Bakabure Industrial Complex in Yola. He also served in several sub-committees of the defunct Technical Committee on Privatization and Commercialization (TCPC).
He has been very active in the promotion and development of enterprise and commerce in Adamawa State and played an active role as an official of the Adamawa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA).
In 2007, President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him as the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Civil Service & Political Journey
Muhammad Musa Bello served in the capacity of NAHCON Chairman until May 2015 when he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
As a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bello served as a member of the 36-man federal cabinet from 2015 up until May 28, 2019. Again, he was reappointed and sworn in as FCT Minister on July 23, 2019, to continue the good works he started.
As FCT Minister, Bello oversaw the activities of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and also coordinated the activities of 11 departments under the FCDA.
In October 2022, he was conferred with the national honour of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
